Itinerary Milo McIver to Barton Park

6.4 Miles 6.4 Miles
3.5 Hour Float 3.5 Hour Float

Starting at lower McIver boat ramp you can enjoy a near pristine float to Barton Park. There are typically less people doing this run due to the longer travel time to get to McIver. It’s a beautiful section of water and easy to navigate. Fun for the entire family. Be aware that McIver Park and Barton Park require a $5 day-use permit which you purchase at the kiosks at the front gates.

Taking out at Feldheimer offers an option to either extend the McIver section (from the Upper ramp to Feldeimer is about 3 miles) or lolligag for the slow moving 1.45 mile section from the Lower McIver Ramp to Feldheimer. By far the fastest way to get on and off the river if you are looking for a less crowded float.

The Feldheimer launch has limited parking, but this is a much less crowded section than McIver Park or Barton to Carver – a good alternative for the hottest days. Midway is Bonnie Lure State Park. Watch for eagles and osprey, and towering Doug Firs. Also take note of the fire scars – recent reminders how close wildfires are to the Portland metro area.
