Camping
Lower River
In the lower river you can camp at the following places:

Upper River
Most of the upper watershed is Mt. Hood National Forest and there are a variety of camping options from official campgrounds to dispersed camping. Before you go make sure to check out current fire restriction and wildfire information on Mt Hood National Forest lands that might apply in the Clackamas watershed. It is also a good idea when planning a visit to your national forest check out the “know before you go” safety information and make sure you understand the Seven Leave No Trace Principles and ensure that you have a safe visit and that whatever you pack in that you pack out.
Forest Service Campgrounds
Most Forest Service campgrounds are open May through September and can be reserved through Recreation.gov . Most of the campgrounds on the main stem of the Clackamas were heavily damaged in the 2020 Riverside Fire. Many have reopened, but the ones that suffered the worst damage are still being redesigned and repaired and may not open for another couple seasons.
